SHORT COURSES
BSA offers a selection of short courses ranging from two to eight weeks, on a diverse range of visual arts subjects and mediums, with experienced teachers who are nationally-recognised practicing artists.
The BSA Year of Painting is designed for students to develop their practice using a variety of approaches. Dale Rhodes will lead Fundamentals of Painting in Term 1 and Still Life in Term 2. James Guppy will lead Portraiture in Term 3 followed by Caleb Reid with Abstraction in Term 4.
Our BSA Year of Ceramics will held again on Tuesdays, 10am – 3pm, with Stephen Bird running a seven-week course, Hand Building Ceramic Forms in Term 1. Stephen Bird will next run Painting on Clay during Term 2. Antoinette O’Brien will lead The Figure in Clay in Term 3. Term 4 will be confirmed in the upcoming months.
These series of short courses and workshops are designed to offer a more immersive, continuous course to develop and improve your painting or sculpting skills.
All classes are held at 112 Dalley Street, MULLUMBIMBY unless otherwise noted.

JAMES GUPPY | PORTRAITURE
During this eight-week course, students will gain a sound basis in the principles and practice of executing a portrait by working from a model as well as learning how to work from photographs. MORE INFO

ANTOINETTE O’BRIEN | THE FIGURE IN CLAY
In this seven-week course, Antoinette will guide students in creating a bust on a sculpture plinth with a focus on surface development, while also demonstrating an expressive small figure that students may choose to explore. MORE INFO

MICHAEL CUSACK | PAINTING USING MIXED MEDIA
With an emphasis on experimentation, Michael will guide students to explore and experiment with both acrylic and oil painting while being introduced to a range of contemporary painting approaches. MORE INFO

AMBER WALLIS | OIL PAINTING
Over this six-week course, Amber will introduce a range of oil painting techniques to develop and expand students’ painting skills. Students will explore different approaches to abstraction and representation while building an understanding of key elements such as composition, colour, and scale. MORE INFO
